Honest and complete transparency- Brought my 2006 Seafox in for determining the cause of the 4 beep alarm and rough idle. In the past the 4 beep alarm was a super easy fix. In March I did a gear lube change and oil change and went to take my boat out and that’s when my 4 beep alarm started to occur again. This time one I wasn’t able to figure it out so that’s when I dropped my boat off to fix that and look at why it has a rough idle. Also that it stalls sometimes when I start it and see why my windlass anchor isn’t working. They told me I would get a call in a week or two letting me know what’s going on. No one called so I called them and was told they’ve been very busy and we’ll start on it on the following Monday. Another week goes by, so I called for an update And was told they would call me back again. No one called me back. I called him back the next day and they made a joke that the mechanic is bold and lazy and they’ll be working on the boat the very next day. Another week goes by and I reach out on Saturday and was told the spark plugs were changed they cleaned out the carburetor and tested it with no issues and is resolved. Also was told that they got it up to 5RPM. Although I was bothered no one reached to me to let me know I was Relieved that my boat was finally done so I didn’t make an issue about it and immediately took it out to Tarpon Lake. I did a lake run. After putting it in the water I noticed my cowling was not on all the way so I when to adjust it. I was unable to move my lever to open up my engine cause they jammed it down assuming it was on right but they didn’t ensure the top housing was straight. I had to use a hammer to get my cowling open to adjust housing correctly so the cowling would be on the right way. After addressing that issue I started my Mercury 150 optimax motor and noticed to see the rough idle issue was resolved. Elated to see what progress was made but that soon dissapted because when I was out of the no wake zone I gave it speed to my motor started sputtering like it wasn’t getting fuel and a solid beep alarm occurred which indicates a serious problem like motor overheating. This happened every time I would get to 2-3rpms and motor would cut out. So I paid $1000 to get a boat back in worse condition than what I left it. I bring the boat back in and let them know what’s going on. They denied that it ever happened to them and said they would go ahead and check it out. Another week is gone by and it’s Saturday at 9 AM. I have called twice no one answers so I drive from my home in Clearwater to their repair shop only to see that they were closed. This is the worst experience I have received in my 50 years of living. My father and I have a time honored tradition of taking out some of his army buddies (the few that are still around) fishing on Memorial Day. This would have been our 14th consecutive year. It’s now been about a month and half since I brought my boat to them. Today is Saturday and I call them to get an update at 9 am to only get an answering machine. I call them back again at 10:30 and again just an answering machine. So hopping they are just busy I drive the 20 minutes from my house only to see they are closed. Completely speechless at this point. I’ve always been able to pride myself on remaining calm in situations but this one has tested my abilities to the limit. I’m a business owner and if were to treat my customers they way they treated me I would be sued and out of work. If there was a way I could give a negative star rating I would. Knowledge is power and hope this helps at least one person and save them from the nightmare I’ve endured and continue to encounter to this day. Picture will show my boat and as you can see it’s not a beater.

Outstanding professional service. Reasonable price. And most importantly, honest. Unfortunately there are a lot of places in this area that take your money and don’t do anything, but Rick and Mickey are extremely honest and reliable. I won’t take my boat anywhere else.

I was extremely lucky when I was referred to Doc Of The Bay to have repairs done on my boat. It is literally a one stop shop for nearly all of your service needs. They also have an extensive network of local businesses to assist you with a wide variety of other services. The work on my boat was performed in an exemplary and timely manner. I also can not say enough about how customer friendly the service is.

Accessible marine services on anclote river across from sponge docks. They competently recovered our 2-cycle mercury to give it more life. They also practically offered options before burdening with cost of repair providing transparent options along the way. The team and owner helped support transition repair period post hurricane as well. Overall honest, competent, adaptive and friendly team. Thanks!

I brought my small Tohatsu motor to Doc of the bay for repair. The problem was I couldn't pull start the motor. I told Rick to look at it but didn't want to spend alot to fix. They tore it apart and said there was nothing wrong with the motor but they wanted to charge me 325.00 to pick it up. I never got a call on an estimate which I would have not agreed to since the motor was not worth that amount. I purchased a new motor and will never use there service ever again! Very shady company!

Rick and the rest of the crew at Doc Of The Bay are wonderful. They've done some major engine work needed on my Regal which has a Mercruiser 350 Mag MPI inboard with Bravo III outdrive. The work was done in a timely manner considering the amount of work that was done and Rick was upfront about all the costs. The end cost was very close to the estimates and any time the cost changed they sent me a new estimate to review before proceeding with the work. They do quality work and stand by it. There have been a couple of very minor things that I've needed looked at since the major repairs were done. Both of these repairs were only tangentially related to the original repairs that I had done but Rick stood by the work they had done and either didn't charge or only charged for parts. It's hard to find someone that you can trust and will be honest with you but that is exactly what you'll get at Doc Of the Bay.

Rick is the most professional, reliable and honest guy around. I really appreciate his determination to systematically fix all the issues with my boat. I bought a used boat with a ton of issues and I thought I really made a huge mistake as 2 other different shops could not fix it. I will never use anybody else now. These guys are the best around. Could not be happier with the service I received here at Doc of the Bay. After clamps holding one of my boat trailers four leaf springs broke I was searching for a place to get it repaired. I was afraid to trailer my 22' Skeeter Bay Boat too far and Doc of the Bay is right in Tarpon Springs. When I talked to them they even said they knew someone who could come get my boat and trailer on a flatbed if I was afraid the spring might collapse on the way there. Since it was my first visit I was a bit apprehensive, but everyone there was friendly and professional. They said they could take the boat off of the trailer if necessary, so no need to worry about that. They did in fact take the boat off to make the trailer repairs and it was back on the trailer in perfect position when I arrived. The workmanship was great and all done exactly as specified. The price was reasonable and no hidden charges. It was a great feeling to know I now have a place that I feel comfortable taking my boat, motor and trailer for repair work. Thanks to Rick, Micki, and the rest of the crew. GREAT JOB.

Rick and his team came highly recommended by our local Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce and after much research we decided to entrust Rick with a complete new engine, outdrive and eventually what came to be a rebuild of the stringers under the engine for our 1994 Carver 28 ft boat. We WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend Doc of the Bay to everyone. They are the most honest, dependable and down right nice people to work with. These guys are fabulous! Might have gotten a wrong part or two but they corrected it with no questions. As long as Im stuck in this place they are my guys! Hell, I might even call on their expertise once I get to Melbourne! Keep up the good work! You guys are the only honest business in this town.

I brought my boat there was told it was gonna take 3 days for it to be complete 1.5 weeks later I was told they had to order they parts and it would be dont that following friday. I took off work to come get it and was told the owner went out of town and it would be worked on and completed within the day he returns. I went by the next week to see if it had been done and was told they are still waiting for parts and it would again be done on friday. I decided to give them a extra day and stop by Saturday and they closed early and didn't even make any contact to let me know what was going on!!! I had to wait a another whole week for them to tell me it was done and then they were suppose to give the upper part of the motor a look thru and I had asked them after i picked it up and they told me no we didnt even touch it!!!! No I'm having to take it to another marine shop to wait almost a month for them to look at it. They told me multiple times they would call me back and they never did communication here is super bad. I was referred here by multiple people and ended up dealing with a bunch of people that made me feel like I was bothering them because I just wanted to know what was going taking so long.

Long waiting time to get an appointment, after getting it and taking the boat, I had to wait more than two weeks just to get the answer that they were not willing to perform the intonation service or engine repair. In short a waste of time
