Absolutely Grateful for Dr. Sand and the Team at Smart Dentistry! I had an amazing experience at Smart Dentistry. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The staff was incredibly kind and understanding — especially for someone like me who gets very nervous at the dentist. During my visit, I actually had a panic attack. Dr. Sand and her team stayed with me the whole time, even though they had other patients waiting. She didn’t rush me or make me feel like a burden. She helped me calm down and made sure I felt safe before continuing. That kind of care is rare and meant so much to me. When she worked on my cavities (which were pretty big), she gave me breaks so my jaw wouldn’t hurt the next day — something no other dentist has ever done for me. I’ve had bad experiences before where dentists didn’t have patience with my anxiety. Sometimes they would send me home and say, “Come back when you’re calmer,” which only made things worse for my teeth. Dr. Sand takes a completely different approach. She’s holistic, gentle, and very thorough. She carefully disinfected the area before placing fillings — unlike other dentists I’ve been to who rushed and left decay behind. Her extra steps make a huge difference, and I know my teeth (and body) are healthier because of it. I’m also very sensitive and allergic to certain smells, but in this office, I felt great. There were no strong chemical odors, and I didn’t have any reactions — something I really appreciate. Dr. Sand truly understands holistic care because she lives it herself. You can tell she cares deeply about her patients and treats each one as an individual. Even with staffing shortages that many places are dealing with, her entire team works so hard and still delivers professional, high-quality care. This was the best dental experience I’ve ever had. Thank you to Dr. Sand and everyone at Smart Dentistry you’ve earned my trust and my deepest gratitude.

You know, I've been to a bunch of dentists over the years but Dr. Sand at Smart Dentistry? She's something special. Yeah I had to wait a bit longer than I thought but honestly? Best dental visit ever. Most dentists just rush you in and out but not her. She actually sat down and talked to me about how my teeth connect to my whole health. Like really explained stuff in a way that made sense. I walked out feeling like I finally understood how to take better care of myself, not just my teeth. And the work she did? Perfect. No pain, no stress. Just really good care from someone who obviously loves what she does. I've never felt this good about a dentist before. So yeah, the wait was a little long but who cares when you get this kind of treatment? Dr. Sand's my dentist now, no question. Smart Dentistry got it right.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Astrid Sand and her team. A few years ago, I underwent dental treatment with her, and it was a truly pleasant experience thanks to the advanced technology she uses and the personalized care she provides. I had several extractions done using a modern technique: the graft was made from my own ground tooth and cells from my blood. To protect the graft, I was given a clear retainer that allowed me to eat without fear of food getting into the treated area. This gave me great peace of mind during recovery. She also safely removed my old amalgam fillings and replaced them with BPA-free, non-toxic white fillings. Additionally, she covered my exposed roots to prevent further damage. I had many dental issues that no one had explained to me before with such clarity. Thanks to the intraoral cameras and Dr. Sand’s dedication, I was able to see and understand exactly what was going on in my mouth. I'm convinced that if I hadn’t started treatment when I did, I would have lost several teeth. I’m extremely grateful for the professionalism, care, and advanced technology I found at this clinic. Can I leave less than a star?? I had high hopes for Smart Dentistry in Ocala, but my experience was deeply disappointing due to consistent unprofessionalism, inadequate staffing, and poor patient care. Over the course of my treatment, which included three major cavity fillings, and my son’s dental work—costing nearly $10,000 paid in cash—I encountered numerous issues that made me question their commitment to patient well-being. The office’s lack of professionalism was evident from the start. During my first visit, a male dental technician made me extremely uncomfortable by rubbing my lips in an Schuhe, an inappropriate and unsettling action that nearly deterred me from returning. Throughout my visits, the understaffed office led to significant delays; I was often left in the treatment room for 30-45 minutes mid-procedure while staff attended to other patients, which felt neglectful and frustrating. The most concerning issue was the lack of support post-treatment. After my fillings, I experienced severe pain, a high fever lasting a week, sleepless nights, and joint pain. I called the office daily for five days, desperate for answers, but received no response until they finally prescribed antibiotics—without seeing me. The medication caused a severe reaction, and when I contacted them again, I struggled to get through. When they finally scheduled me to come in, nearly two months after the procedure, they couldn’t guarantee I wouldn’t be charged for a follow-up to address potential complications from their work. This was unacceptable, especially after spending thousands out of pocket. Payment issues further compounded my frustration. Despite paying in cash for every visit, the staff was consistently rude about payment processes. On one occasion, when I attempted to pay by card, their attitude was shockingly dismissive. Additionally, they never had change for cash payments, leaving me with $100+ credits for future visits, which felt like a forced loan to the practice. The combination of understaffing, unprofessional behavior, inadequate follow-up care, and payment issues made this an unacceptable experience. I strongly caution others to consider alternative dental practices that prioritize patient care, communication, and professionalism.
