My review has to do with billing. I have been battling with corporate for over 5 months to get a duplicate charge removed - one that they admit is incorrect and promised to fix on 6/10. On 8/29, I received yet another bill, threatening to send my bill to collections! Another two hours on the phone today and I an still nowhere. They wouldn't even PERFORM my cleaning without the payment up front, and I have sent a copy of the payment receipt to them but still, they can't seem to resolve. This had better not be sent to collections and ding my outstanding credit rating!

I really thought this place was going to be good until it was time to pay. I really appreciated how calm and nonjudgemental they were, as my teeth had suffered after years of neglect due to an abusive relationship and the aftermath of said relationship. However, they flaunt these "savings" without ever mentioning the original numbers. Even after the 30% membership discount, a general cleaning is $110. I about fell on the floor when she gave me my total for all of the recommended treatments. The website listing the savings in percentages is not helpful at all; customers need to know the actual prices of the services so that we can know what we're getting into ahead of time. I probably would have shopped around for insurance if I would have expected these costs. But now that I've paid for an exam, I'm not even sure that insurance will cover the recommended treatments. All of this could have been avoided if they simply listed estimated costs on their website or even discussed finances in office. I feel that their advertising is quite misleading; they say that they offer affordable services, but they really do not.

I was experiencing a bad toothache and was searching for a dentist nearby. I found Aspen Dental in SW Ocala, Florida, a little hidden treasure just a few blocks from my home. I made an appointment and they examined every tooth in my mouth to assess what needed to be done. Shortly after that I returned to have the painful tooth addressed. The office is very clean and comfortable. All the staff I encountered were personable and helpful. The most discomfort I had on the day I had a tooth extracted was that the room was cold. I commented that I wish I’d brought my little lap blanket. The assistant left the room and appeared moments later with a blanket for me. I was already sold on this practice, but that very thoughtful gesture was more than I could have hoped for. I was comfortable for the whole procedure. On the way out, there was an elderly couple in the waiting room. I paused to tell them what had happened. (We old folks get cold very easily). They were so happy to hear it. Others in the waiting room overheard it, as well. I have other teeth needing work. I’ll be a frequent visitor for a while! And I’ll be telling people about this gem of a place! Linda Gupta

I had a $4,500 bridge installed due to a prior dentist screwing up a crown requiring a tooth to be pulled. The new dentist at (Dr. Robert Penrod (DMD?) - License: DN16814) at Aspen Dental screwed up one of the perfectly good teeth to install the bridge and tried to tell me the pain would go away in a couple days. The pain never went away even after multiple visits for the same issue, so he referred me to a root canal specialist. When I asked about the cost of the root canal they referred to a waiver about unforeseen potential issues. When I questioned the dentist “So you screwed up a perfectly good tooth that now requires a root canal” his response was “Yes, that sometimes happens”. What a pathetic practice!!! When I talked to the office that I was referred to they even told me that they change dentists frequently indicating multiple problems with them… Don’t be stupid, use ANY other provider besides Aspen Dental!!!!!

Come with a great attitude and get the best service! We love how friendly and amazing the staff is. We have been Aspen customers since 2021. Our old location in Ocoee wasn't this great and they were good. Being an Army veteran, I can say this is way better than anything I had in and out of the service. We will continue to come here and would love to come more often than 6 months but not much we can do there. They have places to charge up devices so bring the cables or packs you need. TVs are usually on home TV like HGTV's Home Town. Oh, my favorite thing here is the 3D mapping of your mouth!!! They are all about making your dental experience as painless as possible and comfortable. The negative experience was I was handed the denture with white powdered stuff on it, that tells me it wasn’t washed before given to me to put in my mouth, after handed me the denture the person stepped away never even offered me a mirror I had to ask for one, and when it was given to me, it was a dirty mirror. You keep sending me bills due to Dentist wasn't in network but yet previous 2 visits office Dentist was. You have legal obligation to inform a patient if services to be performed will not be covered or in network which you failed to do. I have every expectation that office I found and had 2 previous visits filed in-network to be same without anyone in your office telling me otherwise before the work is agree to be performed. Now statement says final notice and will be sent to collections. Go ahead, won't get anything from me if you do that and I will let everyone know on social media the kind of shady practices your office does with billing.

I have been trying to schedule a follow up appointment at a location that is closer to my home for about 3 weeks and the customer service is terrible. My messages go unanswered and I’ve been told on several occasions that a staff member from the 36th terrace location will return my call before close of business—still waiting. I’ve been understanding and patient because life happens; but will have to start over and find a dentist that values its customers. A family member gave rave reviews about this location but I guess they only treat well established customers with care.

The doctor not only answer all my questions but showed me exactly what the problem was. The wait time is just like any other busy clinic. Financial went over everything that was available to me. Everything was pretty affordable without insurance. So I do recommend for others who do not have insurance.

These are crooks. First of all, this place is an in-network provider. I went in there for cleaning. At the time they took money from me saying it was for deductible. When the insurance was charged, insurance sent me the bill saying, I don't have to pay anything, yet this office charged me $50 and are refusing to refund me back. My wife also went for her cleaning there and her cleaning was done ok. Then they scheduled her for taking out wisdom tooth. They already charged for that. After a couple of weeks, my wife did not want to go through this procedure so asked for a refund back. We have called the office at least 5 times and every time there is an excuse as to why the money has not been refunded. The last time someone told her that it will be 30 days before they can refund the money. It is almost $400. It does not take that much time to refund the money. Who ever is reading this and replying, please fix this before it gets escalated.

havent had any trouble with the work theyve done but that seems like the bare minimum. they will make you wait for up to an hour after your appointment time because they seem to be understaffed and overbooked. i havent had a consistent team to work with, it always seems like different people giving me different answers. they dont offer a rinse after your procedure and then leave you in a room for as long as it takes them to notice you are still there.

I got there at 820 left at 12. The process was just weird and long. As a new patient I get first appointments take long and I understand being short staffed. First X-rays, then hygenist, then doctor, then you have to meet with what essentially is a sales person. It was too much. The money doesn’t bother me it’s the fact that my entire morning was gone. I personally won’t be going back it was not a good first experience. The place was clean and updated my major concern is the wait time. The staff was also friendly.

I made it very clear when making my appointment and when arriving that I wanted a cleaning. It was the only reason for my visit. I understood as a new patient they'd want to do an exam first, which is fine. But after the exam they tried to tell me I'd have to come back for another appointment for the cleaning. When I complained, they "squeezed me in" for the cleaning. They also tried to get me to do a gimmick fluoride treatment that isn't covered by my insurance.

UPDATE 3/27/24: Received a surprise bill dated 3/1/2024 marked "ACCOUNT PAST DUE" for services in June 2023 and October 2023 with an Early Pay Discount Offer. My treatment plan clearly shows that insurance would not pay for certain procedures AND my responsibility will be zero. Tried several times to contact the Ocala office on two different days but their phones aren't working. Called corporate on 3/20/24, Marco S. told me to "rest assured" that someone from the Ocala office will call me. They didn't. 3/27/2024 I called corporate again, Phillip was pleasant but was no help. I paid the surprise bill even though I have a printed treatment plan showing that insurance wouldn't cover the procedures AND my patient responsibility would be zero, AND the woman who gave me the treatment plan "a018275" told me that if I got a bill she would zero it. Considering employee turnover there I doubt she's still there and I'm not going to drive to Ocala to find out. I'll take the $202 loss. Aspen Dental is the worst! I'm sorry I did business with them. PREVIOUS REVIEW I arrived for my appointment and was told that I didn't have an appointment. After much evasiveness, the receptionist admitted that Aspen Dental had a massive computer failure in April that affected all offices nationwide. They had to migrate to a new system and appointments were lost. They don't have a hygienist at this location; they hire temporary hygienists! So I have to come back when their temporary hygienist is here. Aspen dental did not adequately back up appointment data and they did not proactively contact patients to verify appointment times after the system crash.

The worst dentist office I've ever been to. I wasted 2 days there. My first visit was for a consultation where the actual dentist looked at my teeth and said I needed a regular cleaning, which was $50. So prepaid for it and scheduled my cleaning for another day. A few weeks later I show up to my second appointment and before they cleaned my teeth they said I needed a deep cleaning and it was going to be over $1,000 even after insurance. Staff didn't care, they just refunded me the $50 I prepaid. I should have been able to get a deep cleaning for the $50 that I already paid since that's what I was told. I wasted two days, because if I would have known that before I would never have shown up the second time. Looking for another office that doesn't change their treatment the day of and more affordable.

Came here instead of Greenberg since it was closer and had a terrible experience at Greenberg back in Jacksonville, FL. I felt welcomed here at Aspen Dental, felt no judgment, and the facility is so clean with more updated equipment than other dental offices I been to. Granted the wait was a bit long, one or two people went before me though I was checked in prior to them coming in but it’s understandable since I was a new patient. X-rays went smoothly, Dr Patel was very kind and explained everything thoroughly while going over my X-rays with me. He genuinely cared and listened, addressing all my concerns. Afterwards, it was about a 10-20 minute wait to be checked out. I’m not used to paying for my following appointments upfront since I been used to paying in full after a cleaning/procedure or doing a payment plan post procedures but I can’t complain - I paid all upfront for my two upcoming appointments because it’s cheaper than other dental office providers, I felt safe and cared for here compared to other offices. A lot of offices refuse to numb you for a deep cleaning but I was told here that they could numb me for it due to my traumatic experience at Greenberg, so I’m very thankful for AspenDental and the fact that it’s only a 8-10 minute drive for me to get to my appointments. My extraction was done here and I had a great experience with the dentist, hygienist and tech. The after treatment is where the aggravation and disappointment comes in…the dentist gave me a script for a pain medication. Today is day 3 of me literally suffering in pain because my pharmacy is unable to get in contact with the office in order to verify the prescriber and DEA #. He’s not found and the # doesn’t match per the pharmacy records. And I know the pharmacy isn’t lying because they called the office while I was there and I also called, no answer and left a voicemail and no return call. And I find it ironic being that they HARRASS you with appointment reminders with endless calls, emails and texts. I’m so glad that I did not schedule my follow up care and visits with this office.
